Bright Indoor Group

This was a project that I worked on at Airtight Design. It’s a concept where a company can control messaging on TVs from various locations. It was broken into two dashboards-the view that Bright Indoor Group could see to manage all of their clients (the Host Admin) and what each individual client would use to manage all of their TV views (the Site Admin).

Host Admin Dashboard

As the design lead, I worked closely with the client to translate detailed business rules into a functional, user-focused prototype. By mapping operational needs into clear workflows, our team created an interactive dashboard that gave the Bright Indoor Group a real-time view of multiple locations. From here, they could create custom announcements for their clients in one centralized space.

Site Admin Dashboard

Building on that, we extended the platform to support individual business owners (clients of BIG) by giving them a separate dashboard experience. This empowered each company to independently manage the content (Playlists) on their displays, ranging from promotions and announcements to branded messaging or even food menus. This gave them the authority to easily add, remove, search for, or alter Views.

Static Styles Evolve into a Scalable System

We started this project from scratch, initially designing assets and organizing them in a traditional Style Guide. From there, visual standards, typography, color usage, and component patterns were translated into reusable, well-documented elements that could scale across features and dashboards.

Clear guidelines, usage examples, interaction states, and naming conventions ensured consistency. This created a living, Single Source of Truth document that assisted the collaboration between designers and developers.
Those naming conventions played a key role in aligning the design and development teams throughout the process. We created a shared language that reduced ambiguity and increased clarity. You can see examples of this below where we annotated our mockups using the same names that are in the Design System document. The developers were then able to apply the same naming structure in their markup, reinforcing consistency between all departments, even as we iterated the design.

Scalable Widgets

The last components that we designed were customizable widgets that were scalable to fit any orientation of the display. The Weather Widget shown here could also share one half of the TV screen with another widget, such as the Sports or News Widget.
